Two Ghanaian Pilgrims Die, Five Repatriated During 2025 Hajj Pilgrimage – GhArticles.com

Two Ghanaian pilgrims have been confirmed dead in Mecca during the ongoing 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, according to the Ghana Hajj Taskforce.

Speaking to Citi News, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the Hajj Taskforce, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, also revealed that five other pilgrims were repatriated due to visa-related complications.

Approximately 6,000 pilgrims from Ghana are participating in this year’s spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Fuseini clarified that the repatriated individuals were not deported for any criminal activity, but rather due to administrative errors in their visa processing.

“Some said they were deported, but we choose to use the word ‘repatriated.’ Deportation connotes some criminality, but these people who have returned have not committed any crime,” he explained.

He further noted that efforts are currently underway to rectify the visa issues and enable the affected pilgrims to return to Mecca.

“Some attempts to realign the visas resulted in some unfortunate mistakes where their visas were withdrawn. I can assure you that we are making every effort to get them to go back,” he said.

The Ghana Hajj Taskforce has expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public of continued support and coordination for the safety and wellbeing of all Ghanaian pilgrims.
