Six Remanded Over Violent Clash at Gomoa Dominase Onion Market – GhArticles.com
Six individuals have been remanded into custody by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court following a violent confrontation between police officers and some individuals at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Central Region.
The suspects were arrested during a law enforcement operation aimed at cracking down on illegal drug activities and suspected criminal hideouts in the area. Some were detained for possessing dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, while others allegedly obstructed police operations.
The operation turned chaotic, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three security officers. One officer has been discharged after receiving treatment, while two others are still undergoing medical care.
Speaking to Citi News, Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Naana Ackom, assured the public that the District Security Council is actively monitoring the situation and will intensify efforts to root out crime.
“The Gomoa East District Assembly remains committed to ensuring law and order. We call on residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to support the assembly’s efforts,” she emphasized.
