Roadtrip: “Ad.ventucre.scape!” to the play park, wildlife sanctuary and an eco camp retreat at Blue Island on Lake Volta.
This June, let’s do Ghana! Join the trip escapades to an island on Lake Volta for a fun solo, or family, adventure spree from Aburi to Atimpoku to the Okere Valley!
The nature of tourism keeps morphing ever so rapidly. Following the COVID lockdown, in spite of the many challenges facing the sector in Ghana, new attractions seem to spring up in the country every few weeks.
Take, for instance, the zipline adventure parks that have sprung up in Aburi and Kpando.
While modern ziplining has become a relatively new recreational activity, especially here in Ghana, it has roots in practical uses like transportation in remote areas.
Involving being harnessed to a pulley connected to a cable and propelled by gravity from one point to another, the zipline presents an exhilarating outdoor activity, where participants get to enjoy gliding.
Known for its adrenaline rush from hanging high above the ground, ziplining courses are designed with safety in mind, using harnesses, helmets and other protective equipment. Secured safely up there, you get to see some pretty delightful scenic landscapes too.
While the exhilarating Kpando experience comes with a breathtaking vista of the Volta Lake strewn astride in the Afram Plains, the Aburi located We-Ape Mega Park offers the best option of an immersive forest adventure, with a lush rainforest cover!
Both parks have great appeal, but what informed the choice of the We-Ape park to be included in the next itinerary by the WangoWango gang has more to do with proximity than anything else, notes Kofi Dro of ‘Ghana Is Beautiful’, who have teamed up with Native Adventures to produce the next WangoWango roadtrip, a 3 days/2 nights jolly weekender getaway staycation!
Dubbed ‘Adventucrescape!’, the itinerary starts with visits to the Kawa Moka Coffee Roastery at Adenta to see first hand how coffee is roasted and turned into the dark brown beans.
And how the Kawa Moka brand, owned and produced by women in Ghana, is blended with herbs and spices such as prekese, ginger, dawadawa, vanilla and coconut.
Promising to be buzzing with exciting excursions, the three-day tour is jam packed with quite a number of activities lined up for the whole family to enjoy.
From traditional outdoor games like swimming, lawn tennis and soccer, enjoy other outdoor sports such as golf. Lodging at the seriously exquisite Platinum Blue Island Resort, the newly opened waterfront resort set on an island within the Volta Lake where WangoWango will host an eco camp retreat.
There’s a hybrid experience on offer where you can opt for either the premium accommodation at the resort or choose the prudence WangoWango glam pop up tent.
Themed suppers with ambient lantern lights will prioritise gastronomy, and serve a variety of locally sourced dishes drenched in spirits and spices for alfresco dining along the banks of Lake Volta.
‘Adventucrescape!’ sets out on this all inclusive rave adventure on June 7, and ends on 9, with an inquiring visit to interact with the zebras and ducks at the wildlife sanctuary at the Safari Eco Park in the Okere valley.
