QET Organic Farms cultivates young farmers with ‘Growing Green Minds’ – Nsemkeka
QET Organic Farms Ltd has launched a monthly training initiative aimed at reconnecting children aged six to fourteen with the origins of their food and the rhythms of the natural world. In today’s digital era, many young people arrive at adulthood unaware of how fruits, vegetables and other staples are cultivated. QET Organic Farms hopes to change that by offering hands-on experience in planting, nurturing and harvesting crops alongside professional farmers.
Called ‘Growing Green Minds,’ the program welcomes participants to the farm once a month for guided lessons in seed sowing, irrigation techniques, composting and crop care. Children will also take part in side attractions such as mushroom and snail farming and learn basic fruit-processing methods. Each session includes creative outdoor games, team projects and craft activities designed to spark curiosity and teamwork.
Beyond practical skills, QET Organic Farms believes the program nurtures important personal qualities. Parents report that children return home more confident and independent, more patient and observant, and more eager to try healthy meals bearing produce they have grown themselves. Many young participants discover a new respect for the environment and a deeper understanding of sustainability and community stewardship.
Instructors make a point of introducing each child to real farmers so they can ask questions and hear first-hand stories about life on the land. QET Organic Farms hopes these conversations will inspire the next generation to consider agriculture and agribusiness as viable career paths at a time when the subject is conspicuously absent from many school curricula.
Limited spaces are available for each month’s session. Families interested in enrolling children or learning more about Growing Green Minds can call 0554121998 or 0208896487. Information is also available via Facebook at QET Organic Farms Ltd and on Instagram and TikTok under @qet_foods and @qet_farmsandconsult.
By placing children at the center of real farming work, QET Organic Farms Ltd is sowing seeds of transformation in both soil and spirit. With every seed planted and every crop harvested, these young farmers are learning lessons in patience, responsibility and the profound rewards of tending the earth.
