Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi Pleads Not Guilty To $2M Financial Loss Charges In Sky Train Saga – GhArticles.com
Former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) Board Chairman, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, has pleaded not guilty to charges of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, misusing public funds, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
His plea was officially entered on Monday, May 26, 2025, following two earlier absences from court, reportedly due to medical emergencies.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi is facing trial alongside former GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah over a controversial $2 million transfer of public funds to a private company, Africa Investor Holdings. The money was allegedly meant for a proposed Sky Train project, but prosecutors say the transaction was conducted without proper authorization or due diligence.
The state accuses the two of breaching legal and administrative protocols, resulting in substantial financial loss. However, both defendants maintain their innocence and are expected to present a robust defence as the case unfolds.
