Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi Granted GH¢10 Million Bail Over Sky Train Saga – GhArticles.com
Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been granted bail to the tune of GH¢10 million with two sureties justified by landed property located in Greater Accra.
The Accra High Court also ordered him to surrender his passport and all travel documents, and report to investigators once every week. The case has been adjourned to June 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi pleaded not guilty to charges of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, intentional dissipation of public funds, and conspiracy to commit crime. His plea was entered on Monday, May 26, after he missed two earlier court dates due to medical emergencies.
He is on trial alongside Solomon Asamoah, former CEO of GIIF, over the controversial transfer of $2 million in public funds to Africa Investor Holdings, a private entity. The funds were purportedly meant for a proposed Sky Train project.
According to prosecutors, the transaction was executed without the required authorisation or due diligence, in breach of legal and administrative procedures. The state argues that the move resulted in a substantial financial loss.
