Ofori-Atta to Return After June 13 Surgery to Face Special Prosecutor – Family – GhArticles.com

The family of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has announced that he will return to Ghana to face the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after undergoing a scheduled surgery on June 13, 2025.

Mr. Ofori-Atta is currently under investigation by the OSP and has been placed on an INTERPOL Red Notice, a move his family strongly opposes. In a statement, they accused the Special Prosecutor of overstepping its legal boundaries and launching what they describe as a “premeditated vendetta” against him.

They argued that the Red Notice violates due process, constitutional rights, and international legal standards, claiming that it was issued based on manipulated evidence and the concealment of vital medical information.

In response, the family has formally petitioned both Ghana’s National Central Bureau and INTERPOL’s Commission for the Control of Files (CCF) for the immediate removal of the notice.

Despite the controversy, the family emphasized Mr. Ofori-Atta’s willingness to cooperate with legal proceedings, confirming he will return to the country after his medical procedure to face the investigation.
