Nigeria’s Ibrahim Gusau replaces Kurt Okraku As WAFU B President – Nsemkeka

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, is the new head of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, following the resignation of Ghana’s Kurt Okraku.

Gusau’s elevation, backed strongly by member associations, comes as a move to ensure stability while infusing fresh momentum into the leadership of the sub-regional football body.

He has served as NFF President since 2022 and now assumes the WAFU B role at a critical time for West African football.

His appointment follows the decision of Kurt Okraku to step down, citing the demands of his recent elevation to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Council.

Okraku, who was elected unopposed to the Council and subsequently named CAF’s 2nd Vice President, said combining those responsibilities with the WAFU B presidency would be unsustainable.

Gusau brings considerable administrative experience to the new role. He previously chaired the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the Zamfara Football Association, and has served on several CAF committees, including the Youth Organising Committee.

Elected as the 40th NFF President during the federation’s 78th Elective Congress, Gusau succeeds Amaju Pinnick.

His appointment to lead WAFU B is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and drive football development across West Africa.
