Mahama Revokes Appointment of NHIA Board Member Anne Sansa Daly Over Medical License Concerns – GhArticles.com

President John Dramani Mahama has removed Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), following growing concerns about her lack of a valid medical license to practise in Ghana.

A statement from the Office of the President announced that Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke has been appointed as her replacement, with immediate effect. The relevant authorities have been directed to ensure his swift induction.

Although the official communication did not detail the reasons for Daly’s dismissal, insider sources say public and professional backlash over her status as an unlicensed medical practitioner in Ghana prompted the decision.

Her appointment had faced scrutiny from health sector stakeholders, who questioned her qualifications and suitability to help oversee the operations of one of Ghana’s most critical public health institutions.

Prof. Yorke, a respected medical expert and former Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Ghana Medical Association, has been widely applauded by industry players as a credible and experienced choice.

The NHIA Board is responsible for guiding the strategic management and policy framework of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme, which provides healthcare access to millions of Ghanaians.
