Mahama promises new modern regional hospital for Ahafo Region – Nsemkeka
President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to establish a modern regional hospital in the Ahafo Region as part of efforts to improve healthcare services across Ghana.
The announcement was made during his ongoing “Thank You” tour on Saturday, May 31, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing medical infrastructure in all 16 regions.
“I am pleased to announce that plans are far advanced for the construction of a modern Ahafo Regional Hospital. As we promised in our manifesto, all 16 regions will receive regional hospitals. Ahafo is going to receive its share,” the President declared.
He stated that this initiative is part of a broader national programme aimed at equipping every region with a fully functional referral hospital.
President Mahama highlighted that the new hospital will offer essential services including maternal and child healthcare, surgery, diagnostics, and emergency care. The facility is expected to serve as a crucial referral centre, easing the burden on existing major hospitals.
“The new Ahafo Regional Hospital will make it unnecessary for people to travel to Kumasi to access care at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,” he explained.
In concluding his remarks, President Mahama thus called on traditional authorities and regional stakeholders to support the project by providing suitable land for construction.
“I am therefore calling on Nananom and stakeholders to facilitate the allocation of suitable land for this critical facility,” he urged, emphasising the importance of collaboration for the successful delivery of the hospital.
