What we need most as a country in times like this is the right people to front every single activity geared towards putting a stop to the virus. Most especially, we need the right person to man information delivery on the outbreak to give accurate information in order to preach calm, deal with panic and give hope to the already confused citizenry.
Fortunately, the current information Minister, Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah who has exhibited a good sense of competence since assuming post, is doing a great job.
His way of managing issues relating to the outbreak is by far, very impressive. He delivers information with a good posture, accuracy and intelligence without creating any weak impression or sending wrong signals. Aside that, his activity coordination during the briefing is equally on point.
Following the series of briefings by the information ministry and other stakeholders of which he has been the main character, many people, including members of the main opposition party attested to his competence with some suggesting him as a future president.
We hope every other person, or group of people engaging in any activity relating to the fight against COVID-19 should put up their best in any task allocated to them because, this is a matter of life and death and we must not take no chances.
Have you been following the COVID-19 press briefing in Ghana? How will you rate the information Minister’s performance so far?
