‘I’M SINGLE AND SEARCHING, I DON’T HAVE A TYPE ANYMORE’ — Gyakie Opens Up on Love Life – Nsemkeka
Ghanaian songstress Gyakie has revealed insights into her current relationship status and evolving views on love.
In an interview on GTV on May 28, 2025, the acclaimed artist disclosed that she is presently single and actively searching for love, but without a specific ‘type’ as she once had.
“Gyakie is single. Yes, I am single and searching. I don’t have a type right now, but I used to,” she shared candidly. “Before, I would focus on looks and certain things I’d now call childish. But now, I look at character and everything from within, not just the outside.”
Gyakie also opened up about the inspiration behind her latest single, Sankofa. She explained that the song reflects her experience with revisiting a past relationship, only to realize that sometimes returning isn’t the best choice.
“I was going for an ex-lover but I didn’t go for it again. This is a love song. I know that people find themselves in broken-up relationships and would want to go back to the person,” she said. “Sometimes you don’t have to always go back if you know it is something that would not help you or put you in a good place.”
