Historic milestone: Ghanaian company achieves first-ever live Golf broadcast in the country – Nsemkeka

In a groundbreaking moment for sports broadcasting in Ghana, local production firm Grup N2K Ltd has successfully delivered the country’s first-ever comprehensive live coverage of a golf event.

The occasion was one of the 2025 International Pairs Qualifiers, a competitive 18-hole tournament held at the PGA-certified Achimota Golf Course in Accra. The event, organised by Legend Sports Management, marked a major technological and logistical achievement in Ghanaian sports media.

Golf is notoriously complex to cover live due to the sprawling nature of courses and the need to follow multiple players simultaneously across large outdoor spaces.

Yet, Grup N2K rose to the challenge, deploying LiveU’s cutting-edge portable transmission units — the LU800, LU600, and LU300S — to capture and stream the action in real time.

Using LiveU’s patented bonded cellular technology, live feeds from roving camera operators on the course were seamlessly transmitted to a central server located in a remote master control room in Tema, several miles from the venue.

The system allowed for uninterrupted, high-quality coverage across the entire golf course, giving spectators at the clubhouse—and online—an immersive viewing experience.

“Even though we anticipated the coverage would be very challenging, using the LiveU technology turned out to be a very pleasurable experience for all, especially the patrons in the clubhouse who could see all the action from far-off fairways and greens,” said Thomas Christian Sowah, CEO and Founder of Grup N2K Ltd.

Mr. Sowah described the event as a “Proof of Concept” and indicated that the positive feedback from stakeholders affirms that this model of sports production is here to stay.

“The solution we deployed offers tremendous cost savings, simplifies production, and enhances content creation. It’s increasingly becoming the new standard for golf and modern sports productions globally,” he added.

Jan Vogel, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, which is regarded as Ghana’s premier golf facility, lauded the innovation. “We are really excited about it because it’s a new experience for all of us. I foresee this becoming a regular feature at all golf tournaments in Ghana,” he said.

The success of this live coverage sets a new benchmark for sports broadcasting in Ghana and opens doors for broader adoption of advanced, cost-effective technologies across various sporting disciplines.
