Gov’t clears salary arrears of Otto Addo and Black Stars coaching staff – Nsemkeka

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has cleared all outstanding salary arrears owed to Black Stars coach Otto Addo and his backroom staff.

Otto Addo and his coaching staff had not been paid since October 2024 despite working on major international assignments during the period.

Between September 5 and November 18, 2025, the team lead Ghana to six games in the failed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

In March, Otto Addo superintended Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad and a 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

However, that has been resolved with Otto Addo receiving as much as $420,000 in salaries and other contractual entitlements.

His assistants Joseph Laumann and John Paintsil have also been paid $75,000 and $64,864 respectively.

Goalkeepers trainer Abdul Fatawu Dauda who left his role at Sudan to join Otto Addo’s coaching staff has also been paid $19,459.

Meanwhile Francis Bugri Tampuli, the team coordinator, has also received $33,000 as salary for the period covering April 2024 to March 2025.

The payments conclude a prolonged period during which several coaches and technical staff served without compensation while representing the country in major international competitions.
