Ghanaian Actor Koo Ofori Arrested for Alleged $50,000 Fraud – GhArticles.com
Popular Ghanaian comic actor Koo Ofori, known in private life as Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has been arrested by the Accra Central Police Command for allegedly defrauding a US-based Ghanaian citizen of $50,000.
According to police sources, Koo Ofori reportedly received the funds from the victim, based in California, under the pretext of an investment opportunity. However, he allegedly failed to honour the terms of the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, lodged a complaint with the police after several unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the funds. Investigations revealed that the actor defaulted on repayment and ignored a court summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025. This prompted the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
Koo Ofori was taken into custody and is currently being held by the police. His court appearance, initially scheduled for May 9, has been rescheduled to May 12, 2025, due to the court not sitting on the original date.
The police have urged the public to exercise caution in financial transactions, particularly those involving significant sums and informal arrangements, to avoid falling victim to fraud.
