Ghana Police Nails 5-Member Robbery Gang In A Quick And Decisive Operation In Greater Accra – GhArticles.com

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has successfully arrested, prosecuted, and secured convictions against five members of a robbery gang linked to two major incidents in the region, including a violent attack at Jos Bakery in Dome and another at ACP Junction.

In a press release dated May 26, 2025, the Police detailed that on May 11, 2025, at around 1:25 a.m., two armed men—Isaac Agbezudor alias “Money Man” and Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong alias “Gariba Manta” or “Demon”, attacked staff at Jos Bakery Head Office in Dome. Armed with a locally manufactured pistol and riding an unlicensed motorbike, they fired shots to intimidate victims and made away with a Tecno Pop 8 phone and a handbag containing valuables.

Following a covert operation, Agbezudor was arrested on May 14 and confessed to the crime, identifying Manta as his accomplice. Manta was later arrested on May 22 at a mining site between Osino and Saaman. Police retrieved a weapon and live ammunition from a hideout in Sonitra, Amasaman.

The two were charged and convicted by the Kwabenya Circuit Court. Agbezudor was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on two counts, to run concurrently, while Manta received 15 years.

Further investigations linked Manta to another robbery at ACP Junction on February 5, 2025. He and three others,bBright Alikor alias “Zaamani,” Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey alias “Chameleon,” and Prince Owusu alias “Check Boy”, robbed a female victim of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung tablet, and GH₵6,000 using a knife and scissors, leaving her with knife wounds.

All three accomplices were arrested and convicted, each receiving 15 years’ imprisonment.

Police are now pursuing a suspect in Koforidua believed to have purchased the stolen iPhone 11 Pro Max.
