Take advantage of digital media – Victoria Bohyeba urges gospel artistes
Gospel artiste Bohyeba Victoria has urged her colleagues in the gospel industry not to treat digital media as a trend but as a lifeline, saying it is a critical tool for survival and success today.
She explained that digital media is no longer a luxury but the backbone of modern music promotion.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, Victoria, who recently released a new song, Your Mercy Reigns expressed disappointment at how gospel artistes were still relying on traditional media such as radio, TV, as well as performing at churches among others to promote their songs.
“Secular artistes are owning the digital space on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other streaming platforms.
They are constantly engaging audiences, pushing content, collaborating with influencers but you can’t say same for my brothers and sisters in the gospel fraternity.
“The Internet has levelled the playing field. You don’t have to be a big name to be heard anymore. What you need is consistency, strategy, and understanding how the platforms work,” she stated.
She urged her fellow gospel artistes in the bonny Sunday performances at church and begin to take strategic decisions to push their music as their secular counterparts are doing.
“If you’re waiting for someone to ‘push’ you, you’ll be waiting forever.
Start where you are, use your phone, post regularly, build your brand.
The digital space gives you the power to build a whole media house,” she said.
Bohyeba Victoria, who is also the Treasurer for Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Greater Accra is currently promoting her new song, Your Mercy Reigns, which is available on all major streaming platforms.
“The song was written from my personal experience of God’s mercy.
There were moments in life when I felt hopeless, but God showed me mercy and helped me through. I wanted to share that story through music, to let others know they are not alone, that God never turns you away,” she said.
