Melvin Dain: Acting is about living truthfully in someone else’s skin
Ghanaian actor, Melvin Dain has shared his insights on the craft of acting, noting that it’s not just about memorising lines, but living truthfully in someone else’s skin.
According to the actor, who plays Sena Klu in the new M-Net/Akwaaba Magic series, House of Klu, authentic acting required a deep understanding of the character’s emotions, experiences, and motivations.
“For me, acting is not just about memorising lines, it’s about living truthfully in someone else’s skin.
“With Sena, I had to dig deep.
He’s complex, he’s been through pain, he’s smart, he’s dangerous, and sometimes vulnerable.
My job is to make the audience feel every bit of that,” he told Graphic Showbiz in a recent interview.
Melvin Dain’s performance as Sena, a young man from the slums who rises to power, is captivating.
He brings the character to life with his strong presence and careful attention to detail, making Sena a compelling figure to watch.
“Sena is one of the most versatile characters I’ve ever played. He challenges me every day on set.
I see parts of him in people I know, even in myself sometimes.
That’s what makes it so real but as an actor, that’s exactly the kind of role you pray for,” Dain noted.
Melvin’s acting skills is no surprise to those who’ve followed his career. He first caught attention with ENO, a Showmax Original series, as lead actor.
And in For Love and Country, a Shirley Frimpong-Manso film that features Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, Naa Ashorkor, and Caroline Sampson, he equally made a good impression.
