First-ever Ghanaian kids podcast set to launch
Egli Studios, a rapidly growing Ghanaian content production company, is set to launch the country’s first-ever children’s podcast, ‘Best Girlfriends,’ on June 21, 2025.
The podcast aims to empower young listeners by fostering confidence, promoting open communication, and cultivating positive relationships, while giving children a much-needed voice in Ghana’s media landscape.
‘Best Girlfriends’ is a talk show featuring four 10-year-old best friends, Viphine, Babette, Elaine, and Kelly Ann, who engage in candid conversations about various topics relevant to children.
The podcast will be unveiled at a private screening event in Accra.
The show covers subjects such as friendship, education, interactions with parents and adults, and personal growth through episodes with titles like “Grown-Ups Don’t Get It,” “President In Ponytails,” “What Is IN Our Backpacks,” amongst others.
“I am happy that our simple friendship of over two years has grown into a full-blown podcast, and we hope this strengthens our bond,” says one of the young hosts, reflecting the authentic relationships that form the show’s foundation.
The show’s format encourages young listeners to express themselves and navigate the complexities of growing up with confidence, something particularly important in typical African homes where children often don’t have platforms to voice their thoughts freely.
Children’s content typically does not get the needed attention, funding, and support, especially in Africa. This podcast, aligned with Egli Studios’ vision, hopes to break this troubling pattern.
With so much negative content online that children are prone to consuming, ‘Best Girlfriends’ represents a novel approach to providing children with positive, relatable content and giving them a voice of their own.
The initiative addresses the reality that children often don’t have opportunities to express themselves, particularly in traditional African family structures where young voices may not always be heard or valued in meaningful conversations.
This launch event underscores the importance of community engagement in nurturing young talent and promoting positive content for children.
‘Best Girlfriends’ will be available on Egli Studios’ YouTube channel, allowing a wide audience to access the content as well as audio podcast portals.
Aggor Yorm, the Creative Director at Egli Studios, intimated, “Best Girlfriends is the very first kids’ podcast from Egli Studios, and we’re so excited to share it with the world.  At Egli Studios, we care a lot about creating fun, smart, and meaningful content just for our fearless little voices.”
“We know that in Africa, there isn’t always enough good-quality content made for kids, and we want to help change that. This podcast is just the beginning. We’re planning to make even more amazing shows, stories, and adventures that help kids feel confident, heard, and inspired.”
“We’re not just creating entertainment,” Yorm explains. “We’re creating a world for children by children.”
With children spending increasing time on digital platforms, Best Girlfriends fills a crucial gap in age-appropriate, locally-relevant content that addresses real childhood experiences in the Ghanaian context.
