Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia 4Reall, has announced her comeback to the music scene following her release from prison in the United States.
On June 1, 2025, Montrage marked her return with a video preview of her latest song titled “Move.”
The track begins with the line, “Life is a testimony,” and sees her reflect on resilience and bouncing back after her time behind bars.
Known to her fans as Queen Mona, the influencer-turned-artiste was released on May 22, 2025 from the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia after serving a one-year and a-day sentence.
According to information from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, her release was followed by immigration proceedings and a voluntary return to Ghana.
Her sentence stemmed from a conviction for conspiracy to receive stolen money, tied to a West Africa-based criminal network engaged in internet fraud and romance scams.
She was extradited from the UK to the U.S. in May 2023 and pleaded guilty in February 2024. She was sentenced by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken on June 28, 2024.
U.S. prosecutors said she was involved in a scheme that defrauded older Americans of over $2 million. Montrage personally received funds from about 40 victims through U.S.-based bank accounts under false pretences. Some of the fraudulent narratives used included transporting gold, resolving a fake FBI case, and assisting a fake U.S. Army officer in accessing funds.
Court documents revealed she controlled accounts that received more than $2 million in fraudulent proceeds. In addition to her prison sentence, Montrage was sentenced to three years of supervised release, ordered to forfeit $216,475, and pay restitution totaling $1,387,458.
Her legal team negotiated a return plan to Ghana, which the sentencing judge approved. They stated in court that she was ready to start over and contribute positively to society.
