Suleiman Mayanja, a Ugandan national, is being held in custody by Kenyan detectives in connection with the heinous murder of a 25-year-old woman.
Before meeting at a popular bar for a few drinks, the man and the deceased had never met.
On their second meeting, the lady arrived at the Ugandan national’s rented apartment on Sunday, October 4, before being murdered around 3 a.m. on Monday. The apartment’s guard discovered her half-naked body.
Mayanja, who entered the East African country through the Busia border point last month, is said to have fled the apartment. However, on Monday, October 5, he was apprehended by detectives at Nyali Cinemax, where he was hiding.
According to reports, he sent a runner to retrieve his belongings from the room he had reserved on September 30 when detectives pounced on him. Undercover cops had set up an ambush in the apartment, unbeknownst to the runner, who is also a cab driver.
He was whisked to a waiting police vehicle, which sped towards the suspect’s hideout, after a few minutes of interrogation.
The suspect is currently being questioned about the incident for the appropriate charges to be established before arraignment.
