Dede Ayew has the qualities to help the Black Stars win another AFCON – Ex-Ghana striker Prince Tagoe
Former striker for the senior male national team of Ghana, Prince Tagoe has expressed a pound of belief and hope in the abilities of the captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew to help win another major trophy.
The former Hearts of Oak striker said the qualities of Dede Ayew on and off the field of play coupled with his ability to motivate and be the driving force of the team will help Ghana win its fifth AFCON.
In an interview with JOY FM, Prince Tagoe said he admires the Swansea City midfielder and is looking forward to seeing him do exploits in his future endeavours.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Andre Ayew leads the Black Stars to win a Cup (AFCON).
“He is a strong leader and very dedicated. He gives his all whenever he is on the pitch and you can see how he motivates the players as well,” he said.
The Black Stars missed out at the Quarter Finals stage of the last AFCON edition in Egypt where the team lost to Tunisia on penalties.
Before the tournament, the captaincy was stripped off Asamoah Gyan and given to Dede Ayew which led to the former deciding to retire from the team abruptly but had to change his mind at the eleventh hour which inured to the failure of the players to deliver their best.
Ghana is chasing its fifth AFCON after winning its fourth and last trophy in 1980.
