CRISS WADDLE MOCKS NPP, SAYS GHANAIANS WOULD BE PAYING “POPE AND TRUMP LEVIES” UNDER AKUFO-ADDO – Nsemkeka

Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Criss Waddle has taken a fresh swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the former Akufo-Addo-led administration of burdening Ghanaians with excessive taxes—and suggesting it could have gone as far as introducing levies linked to global events like the death of the Pope or actions by Donald Trump.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 9, 2025, the AMG Business boss sarcastically stated that if the NPP were still in power, citizens would now be grappling with outrageous taxes such as a “Pope levy,” a “Trump levy,” and even a “China levy” amid global developments.

“Like by now, there will be ‘Fellow Ghanaians’ and the whole country will start to panic due to the Pope’s death,” he wrote. “We Ghanaians living somewhere would have to beg paying the Pope levy, Trump levy, and China levy of 8.90,000%.”

His comments appear to be a satirical response to the NPP’s introduction of the controversial “COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy” during the pandemic an initiative that drew widespread criticism for increasing the tax burden on already struggling citizens.

Criss Waddle did not hold back in expressing how he believes Ghanaians were overburdened during the previous administration, concluding his post with, “Herh! We’ve suffered before.”
