Charterhouse celebrates TGMA winners at ‘Nite with Artiste of The Year’ concert
Charterhouse, organisers of the prestigious Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), has hosted a star-studded commemoration event dubbed ‘Nite with Artiste of The Year’ to honour the biggest winners of the 26th TGMA and present them with their well-deserved plaques.
The event, held at the Palms Event Centre in Accra, brought together key stakeholders in the entertainment industry, musicians, media personalities and fans for an unforgettable evening of music, recognition and celebration.
A walk through TGMA history
In a rare experience, the night was hosted by disc jockey (DJ) Andy Dosty, who took attendees on a nostalgic journey through the 25-year legacy of the Ghana Music Awards, highlighting past ‘Artiste of the Year’ winners and their iconic hit songs.
Â
From Daddy Lumba, 2000, to King Promise, 2025, each winner’s contribution to Ghanaian music was celebrated, getting the audience on their feet to jam and sing along to some of these old-time relics.
As is typical of Andy Dosty, notable moments within the journey were given significant highlights to preserve the history of Ghanaian music.
Key among them was Joe Mettle emerging as the first gospel artiste to win ‘Artiste of the Year’ in 2017. Ebony in 2018, the posthumous honour, in the history of Ghana music. Not forgetting the 2019 gun battle altercation between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on stage, denying music faithful an opportunity to see their vote count.
Then came Diana Hamilton in 2021, another gospel triumph. Stonebwoy resurfaced historically in 2024 to become the third artist to win the coveted award twice, after Sarkodie did the same in 2010 and 2012, and musical group VIP also cemented their legacy with a win in 2004 & 2011.
Special awards & recognitions
Charterhouse announced three special awards on the night to Instrumentalists, traditionalist of the year and lifelong contributor. ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ was given to Opoku Sana, while ‘Traditional Artiste of the Year’ award went to the Susuma Pan-African Dance Ensemble, and the final one, Music Titan Award, went to Nanabanyin Dadson, editor of Graphic Showbiz and for his life-long contributions to Ghana’s music industry.
Spotlight on emerging talent
The ‘Unsung Artiste of the Year’, winner Yaw Darling, was unveiled in a live on-stage interview with Andy Dosty. The rising star shared his excitement after being signed by ‘Wanna Music’ for distribution support, declaring his ambition to win ‘New Artist of the Year’ in next year’s awards.
Electrifying performances
The event featured thrilling performances, including Levelled Up (Twins), who delivered a high-energy performance of ‘Pepper Dem’, their new trending track. Titi Owusu did not disappoint either, as she gave the audience an electrifying, soul-stirring solo performance.
King Promise thrilled the crowd with an energetic set featuring some of his most-loved hits, reaffirming why he holds the top honour in Ghanaian music today. The event not only honoured musical excellence but also highlighted the deep cultural richness and unity within Ghana’s music industry.
Music summit
Charterhouse also took the opportunity to announce the 21st June Music Summit to be held at the British Council, where the key industry challenges and opportunities will be discussed.
Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions Ltd., Robert Klah, announced that the new Artist of the Year will represent Ghana in the UK, exposing him to the world and further promoting Ghanaian music globally.
The night culminated with the presentation of plaques to all 2025 TGMA winners, with King Promise receiving a roaring ovation as the newest ‘Artiste of the Year’.
