Black Sherif loses out on Best International Act award at the just ended BETs – Nsemkeka.com

Ghanaian sensation, Black Sherif, missed out on a major international accolade as Nigerian Afrobeat star Ayra Starr clinched the coveted Best International Act award at the 2025 BET Awards, held on June 9 in Los Angeles.

Ayra Starr emerged victorious in a fiercely competitive category that included top global talents such as Ghana’s Black Sherif, Any Gabrielly (Brazil), Basky (UK), Ezra Collective (UK), Joé Dwèt Filé (France), MC Luanna (Brazil), Rema (Nigeria), SDM (France), Tyla (South Africa), and Uncle Waffles (Swaziland).

The win marks a significant milestone in Ayra Starr’s meteoric rise.

Since 2022, the Sability hitmaker has been a consistent presence at the BET Awards, earning nods in previous years for Best New International Act (2022), Best International Act (2023), and the BET Her Award in 2024 for her empowering anthem “Commas.”

In 2025 alone, she garnered three nominations: Best New Artist, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and Best International Act, ultimately taking home the latter.
