Theophilus Allotey crushed Daniel Girsh to become the new World Boxing Organization (WBO) African Bantamweight champion on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The boutt was one of the main fights on Amir Khan Promotions and Legacy Rise Sports ”Battle of the Beasts” event at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
In front of a capacity crowd that included Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, the legendary Azumah Nelson, former Worm, Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, Joshua Clottey, Allotey produced possibly his finest performance yet to secure the title.
He edged the first round with a number of power punches, but could not make clean contact to cause any significant damage.

The second round began with the two boxers exchanging punches as they fought for control of the fight.
Just like the opening round, Allotey landed more punches than Gorsh, forcing his opponent to clinch on multiple occasions in the second round.
Allotey’s control of the fight did not last as Gosh fought back with remarkable tenacity.
But for the frequent wild swings, he could have inflicted some serious damage on Allotey.
Regardless, round three proved to be Gorsh’s best yet as he gave Allotey a fair share of punishment with a combination of left jabs and right hooks.
For a brief moment in the fourth round, Gorsh pinned Allotey to the ring and connected some punches before the referee intervened.
With the momentum on his side, Gorsh went on the offensive but often left his left chin unguarded and open for counterpunches.
On two occasions, he walked into a right hook that grazed his jaw.
Gorsh was wobbling, and when the sixth round began, he struggled to cope with Allotey’s combination of speed, evasive movements, and a stinging right hook.
From then on, Allotey rode the next few rounds with effective, well-timed jabs, while restricting Gorsh to hopeful, desperate punches.
In the ninth round, Allotey came close to ending the fight with a late flurry but this time, it was Gorsh who showed good movement to walk out of trouble.
Allotey continued his knockout search in the tenth round, as the crowd cheered ‘Worbaa yibo simple’ in Ga, which loosely translates to ‘We will simply beat you’’.
However, Gorsh rode the storm and finished rounds 10 and 11 without any further damage.
The final round was just Theophilius Allotey’s to show off and he took full advantage, turning the former champion into a punching bag and punishing him at will.
It was a procession, and like bystanders in one of those, Gorsh could do nothing to stop it.
