Auditor-General to submit interim report on contractor claims for payments to begin- Finance Minister – Nsemkeka

The Auditor-General is expected to submit an interim audit report on outstanding contractor claims in the coming days, which will trigger the commencement of payments by government.

This development was disclosed during a meeting between the Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Ecobank Group Chief Executive Office, Jeremy Awori.

Government inherited contractor arrears amounting to GH¢67 billion and has committed to auditing and settling these obligations over a four-year period.

An amount of GH¢13 billion has been allocated in the 2025 Budget to begin clearing the verified claims.

The Finance Minister underscored the administration’s determination to avoid the accumulation of new arrears.

He referenced recent amendments to the Public Financial Management Act intended to bring greater discipline and transparency to public procurement and contract management.

Ecobank, as the country’s largest financial institution, was encouraged to deepen its support for Ghana’s economic recovery efforts, particularly in private sector development and agriculture.

Ecobank’s CEO, Jeremy Awori, reaffirmed the bank’s interest in supporting Ghana’s recovery and indicated readiness to scale up lending and strategic cooperation with government.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor.
