Apply Same Standards to Sammy Gyamfi as Cecilia Dapaah – Walewale MP – GhArticles.com
The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, has called on the government to uphold consistent accountability standards by taking disciplinary action against Acting Ghana Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi.
Dr. Mahama’s call follows a viral video showing Gyamfi handing a bundle of U.S. dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa at a public event. The incident has sparked public criticism and raised ethical concerns.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom, Dr. Mahama insisted that Gyamfi’s conduct undermines national currency integrity and violates the President’s code of conduct for public officials.
“The President asked Madam Cecilia Dapaah to resign for a similar issue. Sammy Gyamfi must be held to the same standard. You cannot preach economic discipline and be seen distributing foreign currency at public events,” he said.
He emphasized that public accountability must be uniform regardless of party affiliation or rank. “We cannot have one rule for Cecilia Dapaah and another for Sammy Gyamfi,” he asserted.
The Minority continues to push for Gyamfi’s suspension, citing principles of governance and fairness.
