AMA Launches ‘Operation Red Line’ to Regulate Street Trading and Ensure Pedestrian Safety – GhArticles.com

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), led by Chief Executive Michael Kpapko Allotey, has introduced “Operation Red Line” as part of its ongoing efforts to decongest the capital city.

This new initiative involves marking red lines on pavements and walkways in the Central Business District to create clear zones for pedestrian movement and regulated street trading. It aims to improve public safety and restore order on Accra’s busy streets.

The campaign runs alongside active enforcement actions, including the removal of unauthorized structures and vendors obstructing public pathways.

On May 21, AMA’s taskforce continued its efforts at Circle Neoplan Station on Day 2 of the broader decongestion drive, reinforcing the Assembly’s commitment to making Accra cleaner, safer, and more organized.
