NADMO Admits Inadequate Resources to Support All Flood Victims – GhArticles.com
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has disclosed it lacks sufficient relief items to support all persons displaced by the torrential rains that struck Accra on May 18, 2025.
Speaking on 3FM Sunrise, Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director General of Protocol and Relief at NADMO, confirmed that over 3,000 residents have been displaced, with four fatalities recorded—three in Adenta and one in Abokobi.
“Our teams are on the ground assessing the situation, but the reality is we do not have enough resources to support everyone affected,” he admitted. He urged affected individuals to remain patient as NADMO works with district assemblies and headquarters to mobilize additional aid.
Mr. Aboagye stressed the organization’s commitment to providing relief to those most critically impacted, noting that registered victims will be compensated accordingly.
He also warned citizens to remain alert and avoid flood-prone areas during this rainy season, emphasizing disaster preparedness and public vigilance.
The May 18 rainfall, which lasted nearly three hours, caused severe flooding in areas like Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Tema, and Adentan-Dodowa, stranding vehicles and disrupting daily activities across Accra.
