Under the theme “Bridging Africa’s Energy Access Gap – Challenges, Innovations & the Path Forward”, the dialogue will focus on tackling one of the continent’s most urgent development challenges—universal access to reliable electricity. With more than 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa lacking access to dependable power, the ASED will provide a platform for sharing innovative solutions, shaping actionable policy frameworks, and strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors. The event is expected to bring together over 1,000 participants, including policymakers, energy sector executives, development partners, scholars, and technology innovators, to craft a shared vision for a sustainable energy future that supports Africa’s development and transition goals. Confirmed speakers for the 2025 dialogue include: Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim (Nigeria) – Secretary-General, African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO); Regional Chair-Africa, World Energy Council, Mr. Kweku Awotwi (Ghana) – Board Chairman, United Bank of Africa (Ghana); Former Executive Vice President, Tullow Oil PLC, Professor Emeritus Abubakar Sani Sambo (Nigeria) – Former Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Federal Republic of Nigeria; Former Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria. Others are Dr. Alfred Ofosu Ahenkorah (Ghana) – Former Executive Secretary, Energy Commission of Ghana, Monique Motty (Congo) – Senior Project Manager, African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Noureddine Hamri (Morocco) – Founder, Turn Up the Light, Daniel Bungey (Kenya) – Energy & Environment Specialist, Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and Sabrine Emran (Morocco) – Senior Energy Economist, Policy Center for the New South; Board Member-FEL, World Energy Council.
