OPD services halted at Korle Bu as nurses and midwives strike enters day 3 – Nsemkeka

Healthcare services at the Outpatient Department (OPDs) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have come to a halt as the strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) entered its third day.

The strike, triggered by the government’s delay in implementing agreed-upon improved conditions of service, has left patients at the OPDs struggling to access care after nurses and midwives withdrew their services.

The GRNMA Secretary, David Tenkorang, has told JoyNews’ The Pulse show that the association will not return to the negotiation table until the terms that were thoroughly negotiated, mutually agreed upon, and officially signed are implemented.

Mr Tenkorang emphasised that the association’s demands are not excessive or unrealistic.

“We have had enough patience with this administration. They must turn their attention to our demands. These are not elastic demands, they are inelastic. They can be met easily. I don’t see why this should be dragged out.”
