2025 Ghana Football Awards: Jerry Afriyie nominated for Odartey Lamptey Future Star award – Nsemkeka

Ghana U-20 standout Jerry Afriyie has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Odartey Lamptey Future Star Award, which honors the most promising young football talent in the country.

Joining Afriyie on the shortlist are Christiana Ashiaku, a dynamic forward for the Black Maidens, and Edmund Baidoo, an exciting winger currently on the books of Austrian champions RB Salzburg.

Afriyie began the year with a move from Thoughts FC in Ghana to Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah, before securing a loan move to Spanish Segunda División club CD Lugo. He also featured prominently for the Black Satellites at the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt.

Ashiaku, meanwhile, has enjoyed a stellar campaign. She was the top scorer as Ghana clinched the inaugural WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup in February, underlining her status as one of the brightest young talents in women’s football.

Baidoo has also made headlines despite missing out on the U-20 AFCON. The 19-year-old has been a key contributor for Salzburg, scoring four goals and registering one assist in 18 appearances this season.

Past winners of the award include Ernest Nuamah (2023) and Abdul Aziz Issah (2024), both of whom have gone on to make significant strides in their careers.
