33 Corruption Cases Against Former Appointees Ready for Prosecution – Mahama – GhArticles.com

President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the Attorney-General is preparing to prosecute 33 cases of alleged corruption and related offences involving former government officials.

The cases, he said, were uncovered by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team, an anti-corruption task force he constituted following his return to office in 2024. The team was mandated to trace and document instances of alleged corruption, particularly during the previous administration, and refer them to state authorities for legal action.

Comprising high-profile anti-corruption advocates including North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (Chair), former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Police Commissioner Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, lawyer Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer, the ORAL Team is lauded for its integrity and non-partisan credibility.

President Mahama, speaking at a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, June 3, confirmed that court proceedings on several of the cases are imminent.

“We set up the ORAL Committee, and they identified 33 cases, which have been handed to the Attorney-General. Special investigative teams have been assigned to each of them,” the President stated.

He added that in many instances, investigators had uncovered evidence of illicitly acquired properties. “Some of them have already begun prosecution, others are about to start, and more are in the pipeline,” Mahama noted.
