2025 Unity Cup: Otto Addo expects ‘tough battle’ against Nigeria – Nsemkeka

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has urged fans to look ahead to a ‘tough battle’ when his side face Nigeria in the opening game of the 2025 Unity Cup.

The Black Stars will come up against the Super Eagles on Thursday evening, seeking a place in the final of the four-nation tournament.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides in the last two years. Nigeria claimed a 2-1 victory in the last meeting in March 2024 when Addo was reappointed as the gaffer of the side.

Heading into Thursday’s fixture, the 49-year-old is anticipating a fierce battle.

“As always, it’s a tough battle, and people can expect that. There are always fights between the two countries,” he said.

“Even though it’s a friendly, it’s not really a friendly, but we are looking forward to it. We are happy to be here to play against Nigeria.

“We will do our best.”

The winner of the game will face Jamaica in the final on Saturday, May 31, after the latter claimed a 3-2 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
